One of the best upgrades you could do for your house would be to purchase a reverse osmosis water softener. Not only will it give you cleaner, healthier water running through the pipes in your house, but it could also possibly boost the price of your home should you decide to sell it. I know that an "extra" like that would be a deciding factor for me, were I trying to decide between two homes.
Reverse osmosis water softeners are amazing pieces of technology. Water is pressurized and forced through a filter that's separated into leaf-like sections called membranes. The membranes can be different lengths, but shorter membranes actually work better.

I know I used to notice it, when you towel off and still don't feel clean, smooth skin. Your hair and skin will be much cleaner and healthier without all that extra build-up present.
